- This group of programs was published in PC Magazine, March 5,
- 1985, by Stephen Manes. Although simple, it allows you to con-
- trol your IBM pc via modem. You will immediately think of ways
- to improve it, but I left it essentially as published. With the
- following programs in the default directory:
-
- ANSWER.BAT
- BASICA.COM
- BYE.BAS
- GOODBYE.BAS
- MODE.COM
- PW.BAS
-
- just type "ANSWER" at your pc and go away. When you want to use
- your pc from elsewhere, call in with commumication parameters set
- as in your program. Assuming you have entered your password(s)
- in line 160 of PW.BAS, just type it in and you have control as if
- you were at the console. To exit and reset your system, type
- "GOODBYE" and hang up. The programs are written for a Hayes
- modem or command set compatible and COM1, so you must adapt for
- other configurations.
- Keyboard differences, graphics, etc. are an advanced problem
- and one the commercial programs may be appropriate. I'm just
- itching to try the Kimtron KT-7 PC. If you try this program and
- have trouble, refer to the original article or leave a message
- for me on this bulletin board and I will try to help.
